  • Logistics Team Member | Corporate Office (Full-time)

    Job Title: Logistics Team Member

    Reports to: Logistics Manager

    Location: Marion Distribution Center


    Summary

    The Logistics team serves as a resource at Slingshot balancing a seasonal workflow that varies between receiving product, inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution between multiple sites and customers. 


    We place a high value upon productivity, safety, and efficiency, and we reward our staff accordingly. All of our team members report to the Logistics Manager for daily direction, as well as staff scheduling.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Pulling product and fulfilling orders efficiently

    • Shipping and packaging orders effectively

    • Receiving and shelving product accurately

    • Other various tasks as assigned by the Floor Manager


    Desired Skills and Attributes

    • Proficiency in basic computer skills

    • Significant attention to detail

    • Ability to work independently with direction that has been provided

    • Ability to lift 2-5 pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds intermittently

    • Stand/walk for duration of work hours

    Role Introduction

    The Store Operations team works directly with store managers to integrate the Slingshot culture into our campus stores.     Role Function

    Preferred Skills / Qualifications

    Team Description and Goals


    The Strategic Operations Department is a team that supports Slingshot Operations in a variety of ways. This department works alongside different departments during their peak seasons of work, takes on various special projects that promote business health, as well as train and develop team members for growth opportunities in more specialized roles within the company. 


    Your time on our team will not only include exposure to a wide variety of tasks and departments but will also include outside training such as online courses. This could include but not limited to personal finance, basic SQL/programming, economics, financial reporting and budgeting, and management. 


    Duties


    Examples would include, but are not limited to:


    ● Work alongside other departments such as Course Materials Research Team, Procurement, Logistics, Print Hub, and Retail Operations when they need extra assistance.

    ● This means you will be doing the work alongside other employees in that department. For example, if you are assigned to Logistics for two weeks you will participate in their day-to-day tasks like pulling orders, shipping, and/or receiving books. 

    ● At times there will be initiatives and projects that Slingshot wishes to embark on. You will have the opportunity to assist in these initiatives in a variety of manners. These special projects will be assigned from the Director of Strategic Operations. 


    Expectations


    ● Work hours will vary depending on team and company needs. On average you will work 40 hours a week over a year-long period, but the number of hours worked per week will vary between 30-50 hours/week. 

    ● Flexibility in tasks and humility in service. 

    ● Opportunity for advancement. Our team will master the basic tasks of each department we deploy to. Advancement can be sought after with a functional knowledge of the intermediate and/or advanced tasks in a given department. 

    ● Remote work will be the exception rather than the norm for this role. You will be expected to be in the office most days.

    ● Embrace change. Travel opportunities may arise from time to time. Advanced notice will be given as much as possible. 

    ● You will report to the Director of Strategic Operations, however you will perform the tasks assigned to you by the manager/director of the department you are deployed to.

    Position Overview

    The Strategic Operations Specialist plays a vital role within the operations of Slingshot by working in and with a variety of departments and using this cross-departmental knowledge to work on business analytics projects. This role will require a lot of time working in Excel analyzing and manipulating data. The projects that you will work on will have a high impact on Slingshot’s business. This position is designed to train and develop the next generation of leaders and influencers at Slingshot. Once you have an in-depth knowledge of Slingshot’s operations, you will be promoted from this department and will work permanently within a different department at Slingshot.


    Duties


    Examples would include, but are not limited to:

    ● You will work on various projects in which you will collect, analyze, and report on data and different metrics. This can include but not limited to sales quotes, inventory metrics, and margin metrics. This will involve data manipulation and analysis in Excel and using/editing SQL queries to pull data.

    ● Assist operations departments during their peak “rush” seasons.

         ○ For example, if you are assisting with Logistics for the day  you will participate in their day-to-day tasks like pulling orders, shipping, and/or receiving books. 

         ○ This is for you to learn and understand the large picture of our business by helping out in various departments.

    ● Inventory management such as; liquidating, inventory QA processes, 3rd party marketplaces (Amazon),and making sure we are maximizing our physical inventory at the warehouse and stores.


    Expectations


    ● Work hours will be a standard 40-hour week. 

         ○ There may be seasons of the year when overtime is required, but will be dependent on the assigned project’s priority and urgency.

    ● Ability to prioritize tasks based on priority level and varying due dates.

    About our team

    Slingshot is seeking a full-time Software Support Engineer.    


    This is a full time, entry level position that plays a critical support role to the operation of our business systems across the global Slingshot network. This includes corporate systems, campus stores and faculty and student portals. It will work closely with the Software Support Lead Engineer (SSLE) and the Software Development Team to resolve issues and provide timely, accurate communications to the customer(s).


    Daily direction will be provided by the Software Support Lead Engineer.


    This position is intended to develop skills, knowledge of systems and abilities that could lead to Developer positions within Slingshot. Advancement opportunities are solely dependent upon the employee’s performance, willingness to learn, teamwork and other key components as defined by management.


    Duties / Responsibilities

    ● Adherence to the Software Support workflow and guidelines. 

    ● Adherence to the software development workflow and guidelines as required. 

    ● Support the Team Leader by monitoring the Jira Support Ticket System (SOS) and acknowledging receipt with the customer.  

    ● Analyze assigned SOS tickets and make initial assessment of ticket severity and possible resolution path. When needed, work with the Support Team Leader on a resolution plan.

    ● Regularly communicate with the reporter on all assigned SOS ticket questions, status and plans to resolve. 

    ● When assigned, work with the Team Leader to communicate with Customer Support on issues coming in from Fresh Desk. 

    ● Coordinate with the internal development team(s), on assigned level III tickets as needed, to develop resolution, testing and deployment plans to resolve the level III tickets.

    ● Adhere to the established ticket priorities and when needed, communicate these priorities and reasoning to customer(s).

    ● Work in a team environment on various major, minor or enhancement projects as assigned by team leads. This could include Backend, Frontend or QA tasks.

    ● Support requests for data gathering, special reports, queries, etc.

    ● Experience using build tools such as Ant, Maven, or Grunt

    ● Experience with implementing/consuming REST and/or SOAP based APIs

    ● Proficiency writing SQL and working with relational databases

    ● Strong knowledge of web application architecture

    ● Experience developing in a modern JavaScript stack

    ● Continuous Integration concepts and practical usage

    ● Understanding of enterprise integration patterns

    General Job Description:

    The Logistics team serves as a resource at Slingshot balancing a seasonal workflow that varies between receiving product, inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution between multiple sites and customers.


    We place a high value upon productivity, safety, and efficiency, and we reward our staff accordingly.  All of our team members report to the Floor Manager for daily direction, as well as staff scheduling.


    Duties / Responsibilities:

    • Pulling product and fulfilling orders efficiently
    • Shipping and packaging orders effectively
    • Receiving and shelving product accurately
    • Other various tasks as assigned by the Floor Manager

    Skills / Qualifications Required:

    • Proficiency in basic computer skills
    • Significant attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently with the direction that has been provided
    • Ability to lift 2-5 pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds intermittently
    • Stand/walk for duration of work hours
