Systems Analyst/Developer

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

Tree of Life Bookstores is a growing company focused on logistics. We provide textbooks to college students all around the country. We are looking for a developer to help us build and integrate a variety of applications to allow our processes to be efficient and cutting-edge. We offer textbook distribution in ways that no other company offers. We need skilled programmers to not only help streamline current processes but to also help move forward with innovative new ideas.
As a member of our development team you will be working with small IT team that loves to solve problems. If you find yourself saying, “There has to be an easier way!”, we would love to have you on board.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user requirements
  • Research, design and write new software applications
  • Test and debug new applications
  • Continue developing existing applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification
  • Integrate existing software products
  • Maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects
  • Work closely with other staff, such as project managers, graphic artists, designers, developers, systems analysts, and sales and marketing professionals
  • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • BS with IT related emphasis is desired
  • 5 years of computer systems and technology related work experience.
  • Background and experience in any of the following: Linux, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java EE
  • Capability to prioritize tasks effectively and work both as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ideal candidate must be an organized, detail oriented and accurate selfstarter with strong analytical, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • A wide degree of creativity and flexibility is expected
  • Ability to adapt to change and a positive attitude are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must
