Traveling Textbook Buyer – Corporate Office

Reports To:

Director of Inventory Solutions

Based in Marion Indiana, but travels to numerous regional sites

General Job Description:

Do you enjoy traveling and connecting with new people? Do you have a flexible schedule and are looking to make some money on the side?

If so we are looking for someone that can travel a few afternoons or evenings a month to operate buyback events at some of our partner college and universities. We provide the cash, supplies, vehicles, and we pay you hourly for the time that you first step in the door until you are back with an unloaded van, and reconciled cash box.

A typical buyback event requires anywhere from 6-12 hours, depending upon travel time, and most take place in early evening. Your typical experience will start when you arrive at our site in Marion to load the vehicle we have for you. You will spend at least an hour traveling to the site, and then a few hours running a table where you will exchange cash for books. Don’t worry, our software and training will tell you exactly what to pay for just about any book in the world. We primarily need you to be able to function independently from direct supervision, and exceed a customer’s expectations even if you deliver a response that is different than they were expecting. It’s possible that we would set you up in a hotel if out for multiple days or to a location that is further than four hours away, and depending upon travel time we will provide you with a meal per-diem as well.

If any of this sounds like you, please see the specifics below, and apply!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibly travel in company-provided or rental vehicles to remote sites to buy books.
  • Discreetly handle and accurately count cash.
  • Occasionally sell school merchandise to customers.
  • Provide friendly, prompt customer service to students and site contacts.
  • Pack, load, and return textbooks to the Tree of Life Distribution center in Marion Indiana.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lb boxes of books.
  • Basic proficiency in office computer programs, such as Google Drive, Gmail, and Word.
  • You aren’t afraid to ask questions.
