General Job Description:

The function of the mail services specialist is to receive, sort, and deliver mail and packages to campus. Additional responsibilities include assisting with large mailings and daily operations in the Campus Store. The mail services specialist must display a commitment to supporting the overall university and Tree of Life mission and demonstrate the university and Tree of Life’s values.

Duties / Responsibilities:

      • Sorting and tracking parcels and mail
      • Delivering mail and packages all over campus with and without the use of a vehicle
      • Transporting mail and packages to and from the Marion Post Office
      • Serving customers in all capacities, including point-of-sale operations with handling cash and credit card payments, telephone calls (including voicemails and returning calls)
      • Assist with bulk mail by printing addresses, inserting letters in envelopes, and traying finished pieces
      • Shipping of packages, letters, and bulk mail
      • General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork, typing sample documents/excel spreadsheets, emails to students when needed
      • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications Required:

      • Be able to lift 70 pounds, and carry heavy loads up and down stairways
      • Ability to carry, shelve, bend and stretch in the performance of operations as well as stand for long periods of time
      • A high school diploma or equivalent
      • A state-issued driver’s license
      • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and customers
      • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
      • Detail-oriented with the ability to self-start and work independently
      • Schedule flexibility during peak seasons
